Call for submissions from Roscommon artists

Roscommon Arts Centre is in the process of planning its autumn/winter 2009 programme of events, part of which will include opportunities for local, Roscommon based artists to show work in the centre’s visual art space.The autumn programme will commence in the latter half of September and continue right through until December and artists are being invited to submit applications.

Roscommon County Youth Theatre is holding an open day on September 13 from 2.30-4.30pm in Roscommon Arts Centre. Membership is open to everyone aged 14 to 22 who wants to learn more about theatre and make new friends. Youth Theatre offers a huge variety of theatre-related activities including weekly workshops, trips to the theatre, and an opportunity to take part in national youth theatre events.

Comedian Jon Kenny plays in Roscommon Arts Centre

D’unbelievable’s star Jon Kenny talks about his up and coming show “I’m not says I... I’m fine”. Jon will play his one man show December 17 at the Roscommon Arts Centre at 8pm. Kenny starts off by saying ‘The title [of the show] may be misleading, it’s a monologue I wrote years ago”. The show is about where we are now as a nation, the change of contemporary Ireland. Jon will no doubt be the cause of many laughs and he assured me there will be little or no doom and gloom in his show. It will definitely be a night to look forward to with an expert comedian who will combine a celebration of his musical abilities. Jon will be joined on stage by fiddle player Ivor Ottley.

Laugh in the new year with Maeve Higgins

Comedian Maeve Higgins makes a welcome return to Roscommon this January with her brand new show Blabbing Away.
